The Edmonton Oilers did it again! They beat the Anaheim Ducks 5 to 3 in Anaheim. It was a game not without controversy and to quote David Staples and Bruce McCurdy of the Edmonton Journal, “I knew marijuana was legalized in Colorado, which was great. But I had no idea that crosschecking was legalized in California!” It appears that the Ducks got a little too aggressive and remember Power Play Goals count as much as any other goal…so stay out of the box.
We’ll see what happens in Game 2. I’m with my Oiler friends hoping for another Orange Crush! What’s so heartening is the fans in Edmonton filling Rogers Place as if the game was being played in Edmonton. Here’s a couple of links if you missed the game.
I thought, because I am, after all, writing a blog on a real estate site that I should include some real estate stats for Edmonton, Anaheim and our area in Bradenton/Sarasota, Florida. Let’s go to Edmonton first which includes the entire Metro area. The average price of a home was $353,417 YTD. They’ve sold $1,387,172,297 dollars worth of real estate in that same period. March showed a 13% growth year over year. Wowsa. Anaheim’s median home price for January 20th to April 19th was $535,000 based upon 338 home sales. The price per square foot increased 4% compared to the same period last year. And then here we are in our Gulf Coast area – Manatee County’s median home value is $242,500 for thissame time and home values have gone up 7.6% over the past year. Sarasota County’s median home value is $276,400 up 6.2% over the past year. These counties take in various cities like North Port, Palmetto, Parrish, Longboat Key, Lakewood Ranch and of course Sarasota and Bradenton.
So there you have it. Hockey info, real estate info and oops, I almost forgot – the wine. It’s what we’ve been talking about this week. BUT, last night was Greg’s birthday and in his honor I drank his favorite vodka – Tito’s. This handmade Vodka is produced in Austin, Texas where Keller Williams Realty International is headquartered, so we were introduced to it sooner than most of our colleagues. It’s Greg’s go to vodka and believe me he has taste tested a number of famous brands. He keeps coming back to Tito’s, made in batches using old fashioned pot stills. They still taste test every batch. Greg drinks it on ice. Fitting for a hockey victory celebration or a birthday!
Remember to drink a little and dance a lot!
